GiveWith needed high-quality storytelling and cinematography to showcase nonprofit organizations on their online platform, which aimed to help large companies identify and give to the right nonprofits that aligned with their giving strategy. With the nonprofits’ key stakeholders scattered across different countries and time zones, the GiveWith team particularly needed a creative and production partner that could handle tremendous coordination and collaboration.
Evan led his team in researching each nonprofit’s story, identifying interview candidates, and creating script and shot list templates that could be replicated and refined for productions all over the world within just a few months. He then oversaw the creative execution, directing on set in Atlanta, New York, London, as well as creatively producing remotely — given the project’s ambitious scope and schedule, Evan collaborated with film crews in the U.S., Nicaragua, Ghana, Ethiopia, the U.K., Lebanon, Guatemala, and Rwanda. By focusing on the nonprofits’ staff and the communities they serve, Evan tailored the videos’ stories around compelling, personal narratives, designed to showcase impact and inspire corporate giving.
One nonprofit was Humane Society International UK, which aims to reduce our reliance on the meat industry – subsequently reducing the meat industry’s negative impact on climate change. With its “Forward Food” program, HSI UK trains executive chefs at global-reaching companies and organizations to create incredible, filling meals that just so happen to be vegan. It was Evan’s responsibility to craft a story that created intrigue around HSI UK – why do so many people think meat has to be the “hero” on the dinner plate? – and communicate the stakes of the program and its impact. Evan directed the interviews and b-roll with the HSI UK executive director and executive chef trainer at their test kitchen in London and at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School’s commissary, where they were running their pilot program. After returning home, Evan worked with his editing team of over 20 editors, sound designers, motion graphics artists, and color correctors to weave the footage into final stories that delighted HSI UK and helped them attract new corporate donors.
In total, Evan and his in-house team of creative and production teams, and their international film crews, produced 90 high-quality videos for 15 different nonprofits, some with only two-day turnarounds.
